Alexander Romey was born in 1985 and lives and works in Düsseldorf. After studying communications design with a focus on photography at the University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf, he switched to studying at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in 2012. He there takes his studies in the class of Prof. Andreas Gursky.
In order to realise his ideas, he uses various photographic methods and genres, e.g. commercial, documentary or landscape photography. The interplay between fiction and reality in the contemporary pictorial world and the illusion of spatiality in photography are of special interest to him. Romey orchestrates, manipulates and constructs his works in order to create his own reality.
