Viktor Hachmang

Viktor Hachmang1 was born in Schiedam in 1988 and studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam2 and the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. Viktor Hachmang lives and works in The Hague.3

Hachmang draws and illustrates with a rich and vivid colour scheme and strong black lines. His style is angled and sharp-edged, yet very precise and detailed. Geometrical forms and spaces are being combined with boldly illustrated people, creating a diversified and exciting image. His works evoke associations with comic strips, especially with the particular style of ligne claire. Apart from that, the influence of classical Japanese ukiyo-e, woodblock prints, can be spotted in Hachmangs works.

Alongside publications such as the New York Times or Die Zeit, brands like Kenzo4 or Lacoste have very successfully commissioned Hachmang with illustrations for their purposes.
